If you are using insurance: For those who have private insurance and would like to use in-network or out-of-network benefits please contact your insurance company and verify your benefits. Often plans are different and sometimes mental health services are managed by other companies. When you call, specifically ask about deductible and co-pay amounts. Remember to bring your insurance card to the first appointment.
Sliding Scale: For those using self-pay and sliding scale, cash, check or credit cards are accepted.
The first in-person session is the time to explore what brought you to therapy and to determine if our working relationship is a good fit. During this time, information is gathered about current the individual, couple or family needs. During this meeting you can spend some time getting to know me and asking questions as needed about our work together. Once we both I have enough information to formulate therapy recommendations we can then discuss next steps.
If we mutually agree to continue with treatment, I generally schedule 50-minute psychotherapy sessions for the first three to four sessions. After the initial sessions we work together to determine the frequency of therapy sessions gradually (e.g., bimonthly, monthly).
I am an in-network provider for Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, United Behavioral Health, MMC Physicians PHO, Cigna and Maine Community Health Options (MCHO) and several employee assistance programs. I am happy to do the billing for you if you carry any of these plans. You will be responsible at the time of services for your copay or coinsurance. I can provide services under other insurances as an out of network provider; you may need to pay my fee at the time of services and consult with your insurance carrier about how to obtain reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company about the details of your coverage prior to the initial appointment. A sliding fee scale is available for those who choose not to use insurance coverage.
